Louis-Marie regularly represents the firm’s clients before civil, commercial, and criminal courts, as well as in ad hoc arbitration proceedings.

His practice primarily focuses on corporate litigation, shareholder disputes, and commercial litigation, particularly cases involving breach or termination of contracts. He has also developed significant expertise in disputes related to high-stakes transactions, such as post-acquisition litigation (notably regarding warranty claims and earn-out mechanisms) and sports law disputes for professional sports clubs.

In cases of unfair competition, Louis-Marie frequently handles preventive measures under Article 145 of the French Code of Civil Procedure (evidence collection and electronic data seizure).

He advises distressed companies during preventive stages (ad hoc mandates, conciliation, and creditor negotiations) as well as throughout safeguard, reorganization, and liquidation proceedings (safeguard plans, continuation plans, sales, personal sanctions against directors, asset insufficiency, etc.).

Finally, Louis-Marie assists and defends company executives and directors during onboarding or exit negotiations and provides counsel in financial and economic criminal law. He is widely recognized for his ability to manage crisis situations effectively.

Experience

Louis-Marie Absil practiced at Archibald Andersen and Granrut before joining the Litigation and Arbitration team at the firm at the end of 2003. He was appointed partner in this department in January 2007.

  • Defending the interests of a retail group in the context of the judicial recovery procedure of a former member of the group. Initiation of a third-party opposition action against a ruling allowing the debtor to avoid honoring the original recovery plan.
